Spaceflight isn’t just about rockets—it’s about vision, creativity, and the future. Join the next NSS Space Forum where NSS Board member and digital artist Jim Plaxco will showcase and review the extraordinary artwork submitted by students as part of the NSS Roadmap to Space Student Art Contest.

This forum will highlight the students’ creativity, innovation, and visions for space settlement. The goal of the contest is to encourage students around the world to think critically about the challenges and technologies of space settlement and then transform their ideas into stunning works of art.

Through STEAM education NSS promotes the intersection of science, technology, engineering, art, and math, inspiring students to research space-related topics and illustrate humanity’s future in space. A detailed set of contest guidelines and submission requirements provided structure for the students, helping them translate their knowledge into artistic expression.

Jim will explore how students’ artwork reflects key challenges of space settlement, including:

  • Agricultural systems
  • Asteroid mining and in-situ resource utilization (ISRU)
  • Communications infrastructure
  • Healthcare and medical challenges
  • Educational systems in space
  • Living conditions in space habitats
  • Lunar bases and Mars settlements
  • Orbital O’Neill space colonies
  • Planetary defense and impact hazards
  • Propulsion and space transportation
  • Robotic integration in space industries
  • Science and space discovery

The presentation will conclude with a showcase of the contest’s winning artworks and an overview of the eBook produced to document the contest. Don’t Miss This Inspiring Event!

The students’ artwork represents more than just creative expression it’s a glimpse into the future and an inspiration for the next generation of space explorers. Join us at the NSS Space Forum to see how today’s students envision tomorrow’s space settlements!  Register today using the link below.
