Ad Astra, the NSS quarterly print, digital, and audio magazine, has won a 2023 MARCOM Gold Award. The awards are given yearly for “Excellence in marketing and communication while recognizing the creativity, hard work, and generosity of industry professionals.”

Rod Pyle, Editor-in-Chief of the magazine, cited his small team for their hard work and devotion to Ad Astra. “There are just a handful of people, all part-time, who provide key support to Ad Astra. Without them the magazine would not be nearly as successful as it is. Contributing editor John Kross, associate editor Shaun Kobrin, writer and assistant editor Melissa Silva, Fred Becker, and our layout team—managed by NSS VP of Marketing Anthony Paustian—are all key to what we do. Aggie Kobrin, the NSS Director of Publications, and Mike Kobrin provide tireless proofing and management support. And, of course, our heartfelt thanks to NSS for continuing to publish Ad Astra for its members and for sale to the general public in an ever-tightening periodicals market. It’s not been easy to keep Ad Astra in over 1200 bookstores across the U.S. and Canada, but we feel it’s an integral part of our job and the NSS mission to spread the word about space.” Pyle also won a MARCOM Platinum Award for his work on NASA/JPL’s “Technology Highlights” annual report for 2022.

Ad Astra is available in print and digital editions, and an Ad Astra audio digest edition is available, produced by Multiverse Media. You can find it on iHeart Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Audacy, Podbean, Amazon Music, and other major podcast services. Just search for “Ad Astra: The NSS Magazine in Audio.”
