Paul W. Phister, Jr., NSS Space Ambassador

Paul Phister

Paul is an Adjunct Professor at the Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC) as well as the Herkimer County Community College (HCCC) where he teaches Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, and Mathematics. Paul has a PhD in Engineering and holds a dual Texas Licensed Professional Engineer in  Electrical and Software Engineering. He is a member of both the National Space Society (NSS) and is a Board Member of the International Space Elevator Consortium (ISEC). Locally, Paul is President of the Rome Academy of Sciences.

Paul’s primary skills are in the area of space operations, space technologies, system acquisition as well as Command and Control (C2). While assigned to the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Information Directorate in Rome NY, Paul was responsible for space technologies (covering such areas as: Surveillance and Threat Warning, Operations, Space Control, Counterspace, and Space C2) as well as the National Space Architects Office regarding long-term space architectures (SATCOM, Space C2, Space Control and Counterspace). Additionally, for 22 years while on active duty (LtCol retired), had extensive experience in leadership, management, and system acquisition relating to software, modeling, and space operations (Director of Engineering of major satellite mission ground station).

Over his career as both USAF and Government Civilian, Paul has contributed to 18 books, 24 magazine and Journal articles as well as presentations at 20 conferences and symposiums.
