Dan Hoy, NSS Iowa Treasurer and NASA JPL Solar System Ambassador volunteer will lead a discussion on “The Science of the James Webb Space Telescope”. The first images released by NASA and Space Telescope Science Institute on July 12 have inspired scientists and the public around the world. Dan will share some of the groundbreaking technology used in building and operating the JWST, and will discuss some of the early science discoveries that lie behind the breathtaking images. We will leave opportunities for meeting participants to share their reactions and perspectives and to ask questions that we will collectively answer during and after the meeting.

When: Monday August 22 at 5:30 p.m. Central time (CDT)
