Robby Gaines is a former member of the Board of Directors as well as former Vice President of Development of the National Space Society.
Robby Gaines is a senior engineer and a project manager supervising 200 people on a 45 million dollar project. He was a “pad rat” on Air Force launch pads where spy satellites were launched.
He joined NSS in 1994 and since then has been an active member in the Clear Lake Chapter near Houston. He was heavily involved in helping with NSS’s 1999 International Space Development Conference in Houston, for which he was in charge of transportation, co-designer of the logo, and in charge of the merchants’ shop.
Robby enjoys speaking about space to the public. Since 2001, he has served as a NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory Ambassador, one of only 300 selected from around the world each year. As a NASA JPL Ambassador as well as an NSS leader, he has spoken to thousands of students and adults about the importance of space exploration.
