On February 6, 2006, President Bush will release the 2007 budget. We fervently hope that it will demonstrate continued financial commitment to the Vision for Space Exploration.
To coincide with the budget release, the Space Exploration Alliance (SEA) is conducting the Winter Space Blitz, which will be held February 8-10, 2006. During this three days we will bring our message to as many congressional offices as we can. We invite all those interested in human space exploration to join us in this activity.
The importance of this effort cannot be underestimated.
With tight budgets being the rule after the hurricanes and with the continuing war in Iraq, it is extremely important that we not only tell Congress and the administration that we support human exploration of the Moon and Mars, but that it is vital for our nation to remain the world’s technological and scientific leader. It is also extremely important for national morale and prestige. Although some may argue that those are not good enough reasons to spend the money, they are wrong. Morale and prestige have a dramatic impact the economy and how others view our nation.
The primary goal of SEA has been to create one unified voice in support of space exploration. It is time to fully realize this goal; otherwise, we can only blame ourselves if the Vision for Space Exploration disappears. So please join us to make this effort a dramatic success.
If you can’t make it to the Winter Space Blitz, we invite you to come to the Moon-Mars Mega Blitz in early June of 2006. We hope that it will be our most successful effort yet. Our goal is to visit EVERY congressional office in Washington, D.C.
This upcoming year is perhaps the most important year in the history of the space advocacy community. We need to rise to the challenge to help guarantee that human space exploration IS an important part of our future.
We hope to see you in Washington, D.C. soon.
