James Webb, PhD.
Dr. James R. Webb – Professor of astrophysics, Director of Stocker AstroScience center, Florida International University. Dr. Webb has received numerous teaching awards at the university level, and is featured in a TEDxFIU talk about the future of space flight. He has given hundreds of public lectures in planetariums, science centers, schools and organized a 35-year public lecture series at FIU. His public lectures range from the history of astronomy, quarks, quasars to cosmology. He is also a musician and has a professional CD of astronomy music.
Areas of Presentation Specialization
Astronomy and astrophysics. His research focuses on observations of Blazars over the entire electromagnetic specturm, especially optical microvariations. He has taught graduate classes in General Relativity and cosmology and developed a class on the scienitific search for life in the universe.
