Space Settlement
Contest 1998 Results
Statistics
There were 147 entries by 678 students; 23 teachers and 18
schools participated. Entries came from Austria, Canada, Finland,
Holland, Israel, Pakistan and the U.S. The magazine Final Frontier
co-sponsored the 1998 contest and will provide a one year
subscription to the grand prize winner(s) along with $500 worth of
space merchandise from their catalog.
Winners
Grand Prize
The grand prize went to Thomas Beatty and David Peters for The Babylon Project. Both are 9th grade
students of Victor Mazmanian and attend Greenwich High School in
Greenwich, Connecticut.
Note: for the rest of the prizes there were individual, team
(consisting of 2-5 students) and classroom project (from 20-35
students) awards for two groups: 6-9th grade and 10-12th grade.
Team members are listed in alphabetical order. There were a number
of ties.
